General Care:

To help with the longevity of your jewelry…

Rings: It is best to take rings off to lift weights, garden, do racket sports and move furniture.

Long earrings: Simply put them on after you get dressed and take them off before you change back into your pajamas.

Stud earrings: Wear the backs up against your earlobe so you can feel if it loosens and adjust as necessary to avoid loss.

Necklaces: It is best to take necklaces off before bed.

Cleaning:

Silver Jewelry and Bimetal Jewelry: Sterling silver will tarnish as it is exposed to air, humidity, light, sweat and body oils. To keep your Silver and Bimetal jewelry looking in tip top shape, give the jewelry a gentle wipe and store in a plastic bag in the dark.

Once it is tarnished, a silver dip does wonders for this jewelry line. I’d recommend ShineBrite in particular. It’s a little less toxic than some of the other options and it works! Do not use for pearls, opals or other porous gems.

Occassionally, jewelry is so tarnished it needs a jewelers touch. Feel free to book an appointment with me and I’ll be happy to help you out.

Gold Jewelry: Gold jewelry rarely tarnishes, but it can depending on the conditions you live in. ShineBrite will also work for gold. Otherwise, warm soapy water and a soft tooth brush go a long way for gold.
